This week we bought a saddle for Chase. Buying a saddle is more difficult than you might think. It is important that you find the right fit for both the rider and the horse. We were lucky that our trainer was able to find one suitable for us. It is a rather old saddle, but it was in-expensive and with a little elbow grease it cleaned up pretty well. I cleaned it with saddle soap and rubbed mink oil on it to soften it up. The saddle is still pretty stiff so I am going to try a few coats of Neatsfoot Oil to see if I can soften it up a little more.
